This tool is inspired by Dr. Steven Hassan’s BITE Model of Authoritarian Control. It is adapted here for educational purposes to help individuals reflect on the structural characteristics of groups they belong to or are considering joining. This is not a diagnostic tool.

3.Are financial decisions made by leadership rather than individuals?
4.Is there pressure to give money, possessions, or property to the group?

12.Is sexual behavior controlled or restricted by the group?
13.Are children required to engage in adult group activities?
